![]() A revolution of public space is happening... Bees Please started in Spring 2011, with the creation of the Bees Please Mason Bee box in the roundabout at Yew & 6th in Kitsilano, Vancouver, British Columbia. Designed by Chloe Bennett, the project was part experiment, part statement, part guerrilla gardening, part public sculpture. The mason bee house is a success, with mason bees currently inhabiting the sculptural cube. The project sparked interest throughout the community.
Later that spring, Mary Bennett, of the Community Arts Council of Vancouver, received funding to install a Bees Please II. We are currently planning a parade for Labour Day weekend to celebrate bees along 6th avenue. Stay tuned! |
